Healing Honey Recipe with Coltsfoot

Healing Honey Recipe: Please read thoroughly before making this recipe to ensure you are aware of side effects! Not recommended for pregrant or nursing mothers

In the rejuvenating breezes of spring, nature offers an abundance of healing ingredients. For this unique recipe, you can gather coltsfoot (Podbel in Slovak) and pine needles, both renowned for their anti-inflammatory properties and effectiveness in treating inflammation. Coltsfoot (Podbel) is traditionally celebrated for its medicinal benefits, and widely used in Slovakia, particularly in soothing coughs and other respiratory conditions. However, due to some studies pointing to its potential side effects associated with long-term use (including liver toxicity), it's wise to consult a healthcare professional before incorporating it into your regimen. In some countries, the use of coltsfoot is regulated or restricted due to these health concerns.

To enhance the healing power of our honey, we've also added garlic, cinnamon, and turmeric—each known for their health-boosting properties. You may also consider adding ginger. Allow the mixture to ferment for a few days, and you'll have a potent honey that can help treat respiratory illnesses or boost your immune system.

My family and our community in Slovakia have foraged and used this flower for generations and I am very confident in it for our personal use. However, before using coltsfoot, please do your own thorough research or consider omitting it entirely from the recipe if you have concerns.

You can still create a highly beneficial honey with the remaining ingredients. For a step-by-step guide on how to prepare this medicinal honey, check out the video link below. Enjoy the natural goodness and stay healthy!
